Food Poisoning

Food poisoning is frequently reported to our office.  In past years, contaminated lettuce, green onions, peanut butter, and toothpaste have been sold, resulting in sickness and death.  Some news organizations have advised you to throw out the items immediately.  Don't.  You will be destroying the evidence, which may prevent you from making your case in court.

To preserve your rights, you should save and preserve the food item.  If it's perishable, refrigerate it.  Gather all the packaging material, even if it's in the garbage.  Find and save the purchase receipt.  It's all relevant evidence.
